Tagging Secrets Off the Market

Submitted by Lisa on Monday, 15 September 20088 Comments

On May 25th, 2006, I wrote a report called ‘Tagging Secrets’ that I sold on Clickbank. The report sold really well because it was one of the first infoproducts released to discuss tagging and social bookmarking. It made it to the top 10 for a few categories on Clickbank. So I was happy about that.

Tagging Secrets

But I can’t tell you how many times I saw paragraphs and sometimes even pages of that report completely ripped off and put on someone else’s site without credit back to me. I saw some pretty well known marketers acting as though they had written it. It was shocking to me at the time.

It’s amazing to me how many people in the Internet Marketing industry have no regard for anyone else especially if there’s money involved.

Anyway, done with the rant. It’s been over two years since the book was released and there’s been a ton of new information on the social media scene. Way more than what I ever covered, or even knew about. In addition, most of what was in the report has been copied to such an extent that I don’t feel right charging for it anymore.

So I’ve decided to take the report off the market and post some of the information that is still relevant here on this blog. I’m updating it as I post it so that you will get updated information. While it’s not going to be the complete report, it will still be valuable to you especially if you’re new to tagging and social bookmarking.

I hope you find it useful!

    Hi

Must be frustrating when you know people have ripped your work - did you ever approach any of them to ask why?

You’ve got a new subscriber. Social media is an area that I’ve not done much with, so I’m looking forward to your tips.

JBO … well I know why they did it. The one guy who was especially blatant with the copying is pretty well-known in the SEO industry and has a forum. He wanted to present the info to his forum as though he came up with the idea so he just copied and pasted.

I’ve learned a few lessons though and can definitely see why people are big on product launches in the Internet Marketing field now. As soon as you release your info, everyone’s just going to copy it, so you better promote it fast up front.

Scrappers are a pain in the but for sure. Well at least they new good stuff when they saw it, or otherwise they would not have scrapped…are you planning on publishing an updated version soon?

Adam … I might put together something for SEO, but probably not just another tagging-related ebook.

It\’s one thing to take a fact from someones article, but a whole paragraph or more thats ridiculous.

I’ve had a whole site ripped before. Didn’t take long after a DMCA to see the whole thing taken care of. Sorry you had to pull the ebook. Look forward to seeing some tips on tagging here on your blog.
